Counselling Services

Many youth face challenges that go beyond what schools or traditional supports are able to address. Stable Minds counselling can provide a space to work through those challenges while building practical skills for everyday life.

What Counselling Can Help With

Not every young person fits easily into traditional systems, and sometimes the supports available through school or other services just are not enough. Counselling can provide a space to slow things down, talk through what is going on, and start building tools that make daily life more manageable.

Counselling may support youth who are:

  • Having a hard time at school

  • Struggling with emotional regulation or frustration

  • At risk of or involved in the justice system

  • Living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and co-occurring diagnoses

  • Experiencing behavioural challenges

  • Working on building confidence and healthier relationships

Support is also available for families who may be trying to better understand what their youth is going through and how to support them.

A Practical Approach

Counselling at Stable Minds focuses on practical skills that youth can actually use outside of sessions. This may include building strategies for managing emotions, improving communication, problem solving, and developing confidence in difficult situations.

The goal is not just to talk about problems, but to help youth develop tools that support them in school, at home, and in their relationships.

Safety Expectations

Stable Minds has experience supporting youth and young adults who may be navigating complex circumstances, including involvement with the justice system or other high-risk environments. Celina has worked extensively with individuals experiencing significant life stressors and behavioural challenges.

Maintaining a safe and respectful environment is a priority. While Stable Minds is comfortable working with individuals from environments where safety concerns may exist, weapons of any kind are not permitted during counselling or program sessions.

Clients are expected to participate in a way that supports a safe and respectful environment. When needed, additional safety planning may be discussed in advance to ensure services can be provided safely and effectively.
